A movie I’m excited about —

Uncut Gems – Adam Sandler’s Oscar performance! – This movie review from the New York Post is fantastic. Uncut Gems is Adam Sandler’s new movie with potential Oscar performance. Just see the trailer and judge for your self. I would definitely be going to watch it.

An article I’m pondering on –

A Brief History of Text Messaging – While researching for RCS messaging on Android, I stumbled upon this old thread about Text Messaging and how it started initially. Pretty informative.

A practice I’m excited to try

Neurodynamic Breathwork – Since I listened to the podcast episode of The Tim Ferriss Show which featured Stanislav Grof (the founder of the Holotropic Breathwork). I have been curious to try out his methodology to reach an alternate state of mind – Holotropic Breathwork.

But trying it out has been a logistical challenge. As it happens in classroom kind of environment for a longer period class in a 12-hour format.

But then through a video from Yoga Journal’s YouTube channel, I discovered Michael who is a certified facilitator of holotropic breathwork who studied directly under Stan Grof. Michael Stone developed a short version of this breathwork, which is called neurodynamic breathwork (NDB). Michael developed this shortened version as a way to make holotropic breathwork more accessible so that participants could also practice this technique on their own.

On this site – NDB can be experienced online, via an online meeting session.

I’ve got enrolled for a couple of sessions and I’m really excited to experience this in the upcoming few weeks.

A podcast episode I loved and recommend —

David Perell’s podcast episode with Neil De Grasse Tyson: Bringing Space to Everybody – I love David Perell’s work and it’s amazing how in a span of a year or two he has been able to approach people so higher up for his podcast.

It says how – writing emails, creating great networks and giving more than you are paid for, work out.

This episode of his North Star Podcast with Neil De Grasse Tyson was amazing.

Even Neil appreciate the homework David had done beforehand for the episode. Like actually being able to speak about his autobiography which was published much earlier.

These kinds of things create a very organic connection with your guest.

All in all a great episode.

Music I loved –

Sunday Study – playlist by Thomas Frank – Thomas Frank has slowly become one of the YouTubers I admire, who put so much thought in the intricacies of an idea he’s putting out as a video.

This playlist he made for studying has some really thoughtful song selections to study on, I listened to it and I can totally recommend this.

A good listen.

An article I loved and recommend —

A Knowledge Processing System for Marketers, Creators, and Knowledge Workers – This long-form article a great place to look for if you are a content creator or a knowledge worker (that’s a new term I learned from this article) or a marketeer. It gives the idea of how to create a KPM or a Knowledge Processing System.

Because most of the time we are just consuming knowledge in a blink and later forget about it and then eventually lose it. a KPM can help you out in retaining the knowledge after learning and eventually make you be able to use that information in any of your future projects.

Check this out, it’s long-form but really worth reading.

A YouTube video I loved –

Ali (one of my favourite YouTuber) & his brother Taimur Abdaal – talking about life and growing up together – This conversation made me nostalgic about my childhood but it was a very open conversation between the brothers. Ali being one of my favourite YouTubers, still holds up the respect for being an executioner, even after this video. As his brother certified that.

This was my first exposure to Taimur Abdaal and his perspective on life. So far I liked his ideas. Mainly because his ideas are original. Something he’s trying to create right now is re-invent the Excel spreadsheets via a new app development.

Great conversation. Very inspiring to see siblings in this kind of exchange.

A song I am loving –

Nonetheless, I enjoy this series.

Here is the trailer of the series, if you are interested –

A small video I’m intrigued about and recommend watching —

Why Utah Drops Fish Out Of Airplanes Into Their Mountain Lakes – An interesting video I stumbled upon in last week which shares – Why Utah drops fish (literally) from airplanes into their mountain lakes. A very interesting fact to know and it’s amazing how they care about the related tourism by doing this.

But basically it drills down to this – “Humans putting fish in lakes for other humans to fish.” (taken from a comment from the YouTube video).

An audiobook I loved –

Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari – This is one of those books which will take you back to the ancient times and teach you so much. I recently read it and it just blew my mind.

There is so much knowledge about mankind’s history in this one book, I bet you probably haven’t learned about it in your school.

A must-read. (Click the link above and get a 30-days free trial where you can get this book for free in audiobook).

Can someone break a habit without replacing it with something else? – Here is an answer I found on Quora this week, it shares a few important points on how one can replace a bad habit with a good one. It tells how neural highways work in our brains.

It’s a great way to come out of a bad habit. Like – Smoking, Drinking or an OCD habit.

A song I loved –

Waves by Jeremy Loops – I got to know about this singer via a YouTuber – Ben Brown. As he shot this video. But the track itself is so banging. I found myself listening to this track endlessly last Sunday.

Here is the Music video of it –

A product I found out via a tweet

Collapsible straw – Stumbled upon this tweet to find this reusable straw. How many times we go to the restaurants and are forced to use plastic or paper straws which are not reusable, impacting the environment and eventually causing climate change. As per a study, Straws make up about 4 per cent of the plastic trash by piece, overall. In the same study, researchers found out that there are nearly 7.5 million plastic straws lying around America’s shorelines. That means 437 million to 8.3 billion plastic straws are on the entire world’s coastlines. Which is massive. This is also cruel to the life in the sea as fish and birds eat these straws also and die.

Using this kind of reusable straw may seem like a very small step but nonetheless its collective impact (if we as nations start using them in scale) will be super massive.

A straw-like this scan be reused hundreds or thousands (if kept hygienic) of times. You can buy it here, in case interested.

A book I loved –

Becoming by Michelle Obama – This book is a very intimate description of life of a US president and the first lady from the first lady’s point of view. It gives us a glimpse of how presidential life is. But moreover, it tells a story of a woman who had a humble beginning but eventually through her will, commitment and brave decisions became so strong that no one could ignore her.

I listened to the audiobook version and enjoyed every moment of it. Highly recommend this book. You can get kindle version here and audiobook version here.

This article explores the travellers of the Firewood Express who sell timber logs for their livelihood. Great insights into their lives.

A movie I loved –

Interstellar – Directed by Christopher Nolan – After so many years, recently I saw the movie Interstellar again. It was there on HBO. I started in opening scenes and was hooked till the end again.

In the scenes where a human might have felt defeated, Matthew McConaughey keeps on going because he wants to see his daughter so badly.

This movie takes me to a different world altogether, always. Time, Space and 5 dimensions. This movie is mind-bending.

It’s pure gold for sci-fi seekers. Here is a trailer –

An interesting practise I’m excited about –

INTRO TO HOLOTROPIC BREATHWORK – Having done meditation from a few years now, when I stumbled upon this podcast of The Tim Ferriss Show with Dr Stansilav Grof who is a psychiatrist with more than 60 years of experience in research of “holotropic” states of consciousness. I became super curious about the non-ordinary state of mind which can be achieved via Meditation and more specifically a breathing work which is called Holotropic Breathwork.

Stan Grof is the founder of this method. But this breathwork is done in a 12-hour workshop in physical presence mostly.

But while researching and trying out a way to find how I could practice it without another person. I found out about Neurodynamic Breathwork which was founded by one of Stan’s Disciple – Michael Stone. This practice is shorter usually 1 hour to 90 minutes and can be done in webinars which Michael and his team hold online.

Check out this video to found more about this amazing practice to reach your inner conscious –
